Aeneas Williams: Spiritual Leading

“This is what the LORD says your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: ‘I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.’” Isaiah 48:17

Although Isaiah 48:17 was a specific message to Israel, the latter part of the verse reveals a truth about God—that He “directs you in the way you should go.”

We also see this in Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Some translations say, “He will direct your paths.” Either way, though, it shows that submitting to God is a sure way to rest and know that God is leading us.

Aeneas Williams, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer, is a pastor because of that very leading. In 2007, he and his wife, Tracy, sensed God leading them to begin a ministry.

“We sensed in our hearts that we were to start this ministry,” Williams told StLouisRams.com. “Our first service was with my wife and our four children in our basement and it’s been growing ever since. It’s been a wonderful ride and a rich experience.”

It’s “wonderful” and it’s a “rich experience” because God led and ordained it. Without God, every- thing is futile—whether we deem it a success or not. If God didn’t lead you, then He’s not behind it. As Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

First commit your ways to God, submit to Him and He will lead you.
