The Straw That Stirs The Soul
From 1983-1990, Darryl Strawberry was the toast of the town in New York. As a right fielder with the Mets, Strawberry led the team in home runs 5 times in his 8 seasons playing in Queens. He still holds the Mets team record for career home runs (252) and was inducted into the New York Mets Hall of Fame in 2010.
His number 18 jersey continues to be worn by fans to this day.

But in 2017, Darryl Strawberry has a different calling. “My name is Darryl Strawberry. Yeah I used to play baseball but I don’t play baseball anymore. I’m sold out for the kingdom.”
Strawberry travels all over the country sharing how the gospel of Jesus Christ has changed his life forever.
Darryl was the keynote speaker in Hartford, Connecticut at Iron Sharpens Iron, a national men’s equipping conference. During his thirty minute sermon, Strawberry told the crowd of over 2000, that the last thing he ever wanted to do was become a pastor. “God called me eight years ago and told me I was going to preach. I said no I’m not. He said oh yes you are. Guess what? Look who wins?”
The four-time World Series champion gave a passionate talk about how Jesus has saved him, changed him and used him to be more than just that guy who hit a ton of home runs. “I wasn’t created for baseball or fame or fortune,” said Strawberry. “What he has done for me he didn’t have to do. He gave me the grace. God was doing for me what I couldn’t do for myself.”
Darryl spoke about the importance of aligning yourself with God’s will and plan for your life. “God’s got a plan no matter what it looks like in man’s eyes. God’s plan is greater than man’s,” says Strawberry “We must be in a relationship with Jesus. It takes faith. God is amazing when you know you are called by Him.”
Darryl, along with his wife Tracy, run Strawberry Ministries, a ministry that’s mission is to restore lives and relationships.
They are both very busy with their marriage, their ministry, being Associate Pastors at Orlando World Outreach Center as well as starting a new TV show FINDING YOUR WAY.
Darryl Strawberry continues to travel the country preaching the gospel of Jesus to churches, conference, schools and prisons.
“There’s no greater person to work for than King Jesus.”
