A NOTE FROM SPORTS SPECTRUM
Today is a special day for all of us at Sports Spectrum, and it has nothing to do with sports.
This is Good Friday, a day that in one regard would seem to be incorrectly named. After all, this is the day we commemorate the death and burial of Jesus Christ. On this day-the Friday of Passion Week-Jesus did something for us that no one else could do. He took upon His shoulders the weight of our sins. In an action that he did not look forward to, He suffered one of the most painful deaths mankind could dream up, but His death was made even more painful for Him because He knew that He was bearing the pain we should have borne for all the times we disobey God and act sinfully.
What is "good" about that?
It is good because Jesus' sacrifice gave us the only way to have our sins forgiven and the only way for heaven's gates to open for our entrance someday. God could not tolerate sin in His heaven, and only through accepting Jesus gift of salvation that was earned for us through His death, burial, and resurrection can God see us as forgiven.
At Sports Spectrum, we've spent the last 18 years telling you about athletes who have accepted Jesus' salvation and who are living for Him.
On this Good Friday, we are taking the day off, so we don't have any sports updates. But we hope you'll take this day to think about what Jesus did for you on the cross, and we pray that if you have never put your trust in the One who gave up His life for us on Good Friday, that you'll do so before we come back to you again with Monday's The Daily.
