REDS CUETO FANS 10 IN BIG LEAGUE DEBUT
How about this for a big league debut? Cincinnati Reds rookie Johnny Cueto struck out 10, walked none, gave up just one hit, and immediately earned the respect of his peers with seven strong innings in his Major League Debut.
Cueto (1-0), the Reds 22-year-old fireballer, pitched Cincinnati to a 3-2 win on Thursday. He made one mistake all day-a solo home run to Justin Upton in the sixth inning-that's it. How good was he? Through five innings, Cueto had a perfect game!
Reds shortstop Jeff Keppinger homered to power Cincy's offensive attack.
Doug Davis (0-1) took the loss for Arizona.

Getting to the heart of what matters in life
TODAY'S FEATURE
JAKE PEAVY, pitcher, San Diego Padres
BIO NOTE: Jake Peavy was the winner of the Cy Young Award in the National League in 2007.
RECENT NEWS: On Tuesday, Peavy started the year with seven hitless innings to pick up a win in the Padres' opener. Peavy also had a base hit in the game.
FAITH QUOTE: "My hope is the only hope we have and that's in the God who gave His life for us that we might be saved. That's my No. 1 priority in life, and then after that, my family is more important to me than anything in this world. Baseball falls under that. I love baseball to death, and I'm fortunate that this is my job, but absolutely the most important thing in my life is Jesus Christ, my personal Savior. I want people to know that, and I'm not ashamed to say it in any circle of life."

RANGERS CLINCH SPOT; SABRES DO NOT
Thursday night was great for one NHL team based on one end of New York State-and not so good for another. The New York Rangers secured their third-straight trip to the postseason with a 3-0 win over their rivals the New York Islanders. While their statemates, the Buffalo Sabres, fell to the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 to be eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoff picture.
BENGALS CUT TROUBLED HENRY LOOSE
Apparently five is the magic number for the Cincinnati Bengals. That's how many arrests it took-since 2005-for the Bengals to send talented-but-troubled receiver Chris Henry packing. The Bengals released the 24-year-old on Thursday. Henry is currently in an Ohio jail awaiting arraignment.
SPRINT CUP STANDINGS
With six races in the books, here's a look at the leaders in the Sprint Cup standings. Denny Hamlin took the checkered flag at Martinsville. Jeff Gordon was second, Jeff Burton third, and Jimmie Johnson was fourth. Now the teams are hauling their rigs to the Dallas area for Sunday's Samsung 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway. It's the first 500-mile race for the drives since March 9 at Atlanta.
